Can I appeal beyond the Board of Review?

Yes. After the Board of Review's final decision you may appeal to the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board (PTAB), a state agency—but only if you first filed with the Board of Review. The PTAB deadline is 30 days from the later of the Board of Review's written decision or the date the Board sends its final action on your township to the Assessor; a petition sent by mail counts as filed on its postmark date. Strong evidence (comps, appraisals, commercial income data) is important. A Circuit Court tax objection (after paying the bill) is another option.
